Vandoren Clarinet Reeds

Vandoren

The Vandoren company was founded in 1905. It quickly became the leader in reeds, mouthpieces and accessories for clarinets and saxophones. Today, Vandoren exports 90% of its production to more than 100 countries, thanks to know-how and involvement in every aspect of the supply chain.

The Vandoren company is a family business, founded by Eugène Van Doren, soloist at the Concerts Colonne orchestra. Continued by his son, clarinetist Robert Van Doren then by Bernard Van Doren, its actual President. Robert, Bernard’s son, joined the company in 2014.

The historic workshops of rue Lepic in Paris were transferred in the early 90s to Southern France (Bormes les Mimosas), thus enabling the development, modernization and constant optimization of our manufacturing processes.

Vandoren V12

V12

Bb clarinet V12 reeds are manufactured from cane tubes with the same diameter as cane used for alto saxophone reeds. As a result, they have a thicker heel and are cut on a longer palette with a slightly thicker tip than the Traditional. The longer palette means that more of the reed is vibrating, resulting in a deeper, richer sound. The thicker tip gives body to the attack and also increases the longevity of the reed. Range from 2.5 to 4.5
